At Smiley Dental, located on Garland Road in Dallas, Texas, we recognize and validate any nervousness you may feel about an upcoming dental treatment. We’re here to do all we can to set you at ease.

Whenever we perform most any dental treatment, we like to take care to make sure that you are comfortable and that your experience is pain-free. The process we take to get there depends upon the treatment, as well as your personal needs and desires.

In many cases, our go-to strategy is to administer some form of anesthesia to the part of your mouth that will receive the treatment and its surrounding areas. We do this in preparation for dental fillings, veneers, crowns, gum treatments and other procedures.

During more intensive treatments, or in order to help patients with significant dental anxieties, we can offer three kinds of sedation. The first is called oral sedation. This means we give you oral medication to take before your appointment begins. Another option is nitrous oxide (laughing gas) which is a mild sedative nitrous gas mixed with oxygen. The final option, IV sedation, is administered intravenously, which helps Dr. easily control sedation levels. Depending on the levels of sedation, you may be conscious, or you may simply sleep peacefully while we repair and beautify your smile.

If you have had negative dental experiences in the past or are simply prone to dental anxiety, these sedatives can help eliminate any possibility of physical discomfort. When you call to make your appointment, just tell us about your specific concerns and desires. We’ll make the necessary preparations for your visit and tell you about any other key details appropriate to your personal needs. Call us at 214.321.8400.
